sneaker freak

for those who don’t know my other half, he is a sneaker fanatic. and, i mean fan-ah-ti-ic.

here is an image that capsures only a mere glimpse of what i am dealing with in terms of kicks.

this does NOT include his summer collection.

believe it.

note: the only item belonging to me here is a pair of hightop chucks and my moccasin slippers.

i have my own personal 4 tiered shoe rack to house mine.

i guess i can never complain that the man wears ratty old trainers, no?!!!

our love nest.

so, we are all moved in to our new apartment in Roncesvalles. After much stress, banter and injury that is.

i think we find it hard to sleep the last 2 nights because it is dramatically less noisy and has a fraction of the crackheads we are used to encountering. (knock. on. wood.)

anywho, after several trips to Walmart, Ikea, Home Depot and i`m sure a few others i think we may have got it mostly covered.

it`s weird how you get the idea to move, and then want it so bad (…. wait, did i????) and then, when it comes to the act of moving, especially in winter, … you begin to wonder,” did i really want to move?”

the answer for me is “HELLS TO THE YES”…..but, it took a lot to prove it, the last few weeks. so, i have attached a few glossy shots of our new cubbie for you to peek at, and partially because i know my mom reads my blog every day. hope you feel better about me living in this place than the last one mom! xo

our 1st houseguest nadz!

moving day: t – 15 days.

sigh.

gabe and i are moving. and i am thoroughly excited.

thoroughly.

i can’t wait to be in our new diggs all cozy and lovely. i love our new space. it’s in cute little  roncesvalles ~ i always wanted to live in this area since i came to toronto, but never did.  i think it’s going to be perfect for us until we decide on any further stuff to come. renting isn’t ideal for much longer, so i think this will suffice for us for now. i have never really felt “at home” here as far as apartments go,…. i think it is because i don’t have a lot of my personal touches around me to make the space mine.

also, i haven’t had a crafting/sewing/workspace where i can do all of my things and PAINT AND MAKE SOME ART!!!!! so, i am very excited for those things to come. why don’t ya’ll come visit?!!!!

p.s i am saying a prayer every night that the couch tanya has gifted us will fit in our new place so i don’t have to move the ugly leather green couch and 2 equally ugly matching oversized chairs with me……  ******fingers crossed*******

i will take pics as soon as i get the sweet sweet keys!!!!!!

can we talk about this?

so, gabe and i spent a lazy day doing not much of anything yesterday, and decided to watch a movie.
his choice, of course, so i went for it. the film was a documentary called “catfish”, about a guy who has a strange meeting and later on encounter with someone who finds him, and “gets to know him” via facebook…….
it was a pretty crazy concept, and very true to form in all aspects of how we live and communicate and how exposed we are with social media sites and the internet…..MEGLA creepy!!!!!!!
i think people need to see this shit….

Catfish Movie

p.s i searched these people on facebook after the fact, does this make me as crazy as the rest of them? ha ha!
thoughts?

so, thanks to you who came and spent it with us, and for those who didn’t, we missed you!
it is so great to have seen my friends from halifax again, after so long without partying with them.
we were a few men short, but we did the damn thing just as well.
here’s to a great new year to come in 2011 for everyone.

home for the holidays….

well, well, well. gabe and i are back to toronto, back to reality. our trip home was a blast and a whirlwind at the same time.i was so glad to have spent it at home with my sister and parents.
i thought i would have more time to blog as i was not working for 5 days, but time flew by like nobody’s business.
we covered a lot of ground~ i took gabe on the grand tour of truro, which took all of 15 minutes. a lot of things have changed at home, so it was nice to see all of the old stomping grounds.
we took a trip up to halifax and visited the Halifax Citadel, which i had never actually went to in the 6 years i lived in the city. ( i think gabe liked it there because it was pretty historical).
lots of family visits, and of course gabe’s first time meeting the infamous frizzells, and extended aunts, uncles, cousins and gaggle of friends. we also got to skype his family in Brazil, which was a pretty cool event for my family, to see them on the other side of the world, enjoying their christmas.
in other breaking news, my dear dear friend charley young will be with us for a few days, and i am peeing my dress with excitement to finally get to see her after 1.5 years of being apart. she always makes my life a pretty awesome place to be, that wild child from calgary. thanks chuck and leslie for breeding such a whacko!
well, that’s all for now, just a wee update. i’m off to party like it’s 2008 all over again.
feliz natal everyone, even though it’s over. (portuguese attempt #1 on this blog, bear with me)

nova scotia, the sea bound coast

we are probably drunk in this one....

well, tomorrow night gabe and i are off to the maritimes for christmas, arriving on my mama’s birthday!
i haven’t been home since last year at this time, and this time they will be meeting my other half, so we are all pretty anxious and excited.
for any maritimers reading this, you will note that i know it will be an absolute shitshow of all kinds, and i am thoroughly prepared and ready.
loving your current city doesn’t mean we all don’t get homesick from places that we once loathed, right?
i am just so excited to see my family and girlfriends that i have been missing lately and also my pseudo nephew, Mateo. I last saw him a mere few weeks after he was born, and now he is a spry 1 year old and walking! sigh…..i am tearing up with the thought. christmastime at home, seeing all the random people from your past is always fun, sometimes weird as hell,…. but fun. yee haw! gabe says we are headed to the country…. i said, “i’ll let you decide that when you get there”.
so, off we go. i will try and keep some awesome random shit posted from the “hub of nova scotia”~ truro, for you all to feast upon whilst i am away.and upon our return? a guest from calgary, my gurl charley louise. yay holidays!

HOLLAH! here we coooooome!!!!!
