sister time.

hi everyone.

i meant to post this earlier but lately my brain is somewhere far far away from my actual place where my brain is normally supposed to be.

so, my sister and her boyfriend made the journey from Nova Scotia to Toronto (like a 1.5 hour flight, it´s great) for the weekend to visit with Gabriel and I this past weekend. We had a great time visiting, and we haven´t seen her since our wedding, since we haven´t had a chance to get back east, so it was great of them to come to us.

My sister comes here usually 2x a year to visit (i know, I´m spoiled) so she´s seen a lot,    done a lot and is used to a lot of what is really different about a small city of 500,000 to a big city of close to 5 million. We went to the Distillery District (Brick Street Bakery~ like, ohmagaaawd),  Balzac´s coffee shop, Soma chocolate Lab, and then hit Vaughan Mills outlet mall. (so good).

We took Saturday to go to Niagara Falls, and see some sights there. This was their first time, so it was nice to be able to get a chance to go outside the city. As many times as we´ve  been,  always so breathtaking. You really do forget how beautiful nature can be sometimes, you know? Even though i´ve been a florist for 11 years, i still somehow forget things like this when they are not right in my face.  Maybe Toronto stole my ability to remember nature away from me? Anyway, we had great weather and a great day to enjoy~ overall a great weekend indeed!

For the rest of their visit we walked in High Park, went to Polson pier, went to The Beaches area and sauntered around in the 40 degree heat and smog, Cherry Beach, Steamwhistle Brewery, downtown around Spadina  area, Film Buff for ice cream, Sherway Gardens Mall, Utopia for lunch (always amazing), Ikea (a must-go for Maritimers, as we don´t have one at all)  and i´m sure some other areas I´m forgetting with my phantom brain.

So,  a giant thank you Heidi and Roger for coming to our city and staying with us~ we love you and wish we got to see you and do this kind of thing more often!  (G loves to navigate and act as Official Tour Guide to our out of town guests)

For the rest of you, if you come to Toronto, look us up so we can cart you ´round and show you the sights and sounds. (and, sometimes smells)

Happy Wednesday night, whatever you get up to or into!

flowers for showers

well, ‘ello ‘ello boys (and probably more) girls.

how is everyone doing on this fine day? we were sitting at 8 degrees above zero today…. RECORD BREAKER!

um, mother nature? it’s january.

Mother Nature: well, stop treating me like a giant garbage can and maybe things won’t be so bananas, no?

okay, you win.

ANYWAY~ i wanted to share some photos and lovely little blog post about my sunday aft. one of my besties is going to las vegas for one of her besties weddings in a few days, and wanted to have an “unconventional” yet fun little wedding shower for her. to attribute to this fun day, lynn asked me f i would come and show all of the shower girls how to make a flower arrangement! and, being that i haven’t taught barely any classes since i moved to ontario~ i was all over this idea. plus, lynn is a really awesome person (as is the whole cullen family) and i knew her friend erin would really enjoy this.

so, here are a few photos via heather from our sunday class. i think that all of the girls made truly lovely arrangements in their vases that they brought along to the shower. good job, ladies!

all of our flowers were supplied by pink twig (of course) and included:gerberas, hyacinth, kermits and spray roses. salal for greenery.

so, this was a pretty great day. also, we had some yummy food and tea and talked about awesome stuff for the rest of the afternoon!  so, that, my friends was a very nice sunday for moi. i love doing things like this, and sometimes think that i need to get back into the teaching part of my career~ i really miss that about my life here in toronto vs scotia, as back home i was teaching classes almost weekly. it definitely made me feel refreshed before the big v-day ( or should i say the worst day of my life every year)

anyways, i hope you all enjoyed your weekend, whatever you got up to! and, if you know anyone in the t.dot area that wants to learn some skills, you know the gal to holler at can be right therepushin’ petals, at your service!

happy night night.

vintage score

hello special people.

yesterday i told you i was going vintage shopping with lynn, and was a wee bit worried that i would fall in love with way too many amazing things and spend all my money and then have buyers remorse……well, you will be happy to know that i didn’t, and i don’t and i got a sweet score out of the deal that didn’t hurt the pocketbook!

hurrah hurrah huzzah!!!!!!!

here is a shot of my new (to me) watermelon silk scarf ($2 buckaroos) and my adorable little sailor dress with a square neckline/bib top.($24.00 smackers)!

pretty cute, no? i will do an outfit post with this pretty little frock in the  near future, as i know it is killing you to see the end result.

lynn got some fisherman pants, an adorable french connection wrap skirt, a pink patterned silk cardi and a cut off sexy belly baring top.

to keep up some shopping momentum,  we had some delish treats at wanda’s, and later on in the afternoon we indulged in some serious big fat burritos.

and we had a wonderful day catching up on a sunny monday here in toronto.

a job well done, cullen.  Yippppeeee!

now, this cat is off to clean flowers and make pretty things.

lacy lazy sunday dress

well, i caved and decided to do an outfit post. i got a new adorable dress i was dying to wear, and as gabe and i were out on the town enjoying our sunday, i thought,”this dress deserves a post gosh darnit”.

and, here we are.

this is (unfortunately) not our car, it is that of someone who lives in our building,…but i want it. i would paint it cherry red and cruise around with the windows down. and pump ace of base or something.   aaaaaaaaannnywho~ we started out our lazy sunday at easy for breakfast, and then we headed to The Beaches to walk the boardwalk. we got to see lots of dogs, babies and even some beautiful swans eating some breakfast too!

then we strolled the Beaches ‘hood and i got my new shoes! so comfortable, and a much needed treatsa for my feetsa!

when we got home i decided to pair them with my lace dress and my fave cream cardi.   yippppeeee!

(dress: forever 21, shoes: ecco, cardigan: H&M, glasses: harry larry )

and, after just lazing around for the rest of our day, gabe is making brazilian beans and i am off to have a DIY mani pedi. i am in much need of a polish change, and that’s what sundays are for, right? happy happy sunday.. hope you like my very first ever outfit post.
